So, I have finally decided on a direction that I would like to take with my blog. While looking at my posts, I noticed that I have frequently been writing about Shakespeare's influence on pop culture, specifically music. I have now decided that I will delve deeper into this theme. So, for all of you who are taking a similar angle, we need to get together and discuss our ideas!
I went to the library today and checked out two books that talk about Shakespeare's influence on music. I am planning on using these books to give me ideas on specific things I can look for in today's pop culture that have been influenced by Shakespeare. The first book I checked out was entitled Shakespeare's Use of Music. This is going to be a very valuable book for my research because it talks about specific instruments that were used in Shakespeare's plays and does an indepth analysis of specific songs Shakespeare used. The second book I checked out is entitled Shakespeare, Madness, and Music. This book analyzes the effect music had on some of Shakespeare's most prominent characters. I think the chapter's that will be most useful to me will be the chapters concentrated on Ophelia and Hamlet.
We will just have to see where my research takes me!
